Step away from the modern world and embark on a timeless journey through nature’s most breathtaking landscapes following a covered wagon with saddle horses. Ride or sit in the wagon. This immersive experience combines wagon treks and horseback riding, guiding you through majestic mountains, pristine rivers, and cascading waterfalls
Day 1 - We meet at the Diamond J location and pair you with horses, gear. Then we load and head to the staging area where we connect with Clearwater Basin Mountain Adventure. They have the wagon we follow from Clearwater Staging Area to 40 mile. Approx 4-5 hour ride. Sleep in an outfitters tent and enjoy meals in a camp kitchen.
Day 2 - We wake up to breakfast in the camp kitchen before we saddle up and hit the trail over Forbidden Creek. It’s a 6-8 hr ride We arrive at our second camp , enjoy supper over the campfire and sleep in an outfitters tent.
Day 3 - Ride from Forbidden Creek into the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch and arrive after a 6-8 hr ride for steak supper in the restaurant with hot showers and free WiFi to share your favourite pictures with family and friends.
How to get there from Sundre
This location was formely called YMCA Camp Gray Jay
From Sundre Tim Hortons travel West on Hwy 584 for 8km to Coal Camp Road, Range Road 63. This road starts as a paved road and turns into a gravel road. So allow additional time for travelling to gravel road conditions. Turn left and travel 45km to Secondary 734. Turn left and continue for 2.8 km, DO NOT CROSS the big blue bridge with the blue arches and continue for another 20km to Eagle Creek.
You will pass the Wildhorse Flats location. Keep driving for another 14km. FOLLOW THE DIAMOND J SIGN.
You will see a sign on the right that reads "Diamond J".
Turn into the driveway and park in the parking lot.
Note: Google maps will take you to our Wildhorse flats location, but if you've booked at Diamond J, continue on another 14km. Follow the Diamond J sign.
